This is the 2nd port of call in Chile. Puerto Montt is the gateway to Chile’s Lake District. There were local tours offering to visit this Lake District. However, the drive is pretty long. We decided to just walk around the town. When we walked along the boardwalk, we saw quite a lot of people gathering there doing some sort of celebration ceremony. We did not understand what was going on and just walking toward town. We found out pretty soon that this is a very poor town without too much charm. There were a lot of street vendors selling goods just along the walkway by the street.
Then we decided to visit local craft market trying to find souvenirs. Afterwards, we called off the self guided tour and got on tender to get back to the ship.
